If you ever try to analyse you will come to know that the disease is due to the slow but steady deposit of fatty material – cholesterol and triglycerides inside the arteries of the heart and we have allowed them to grow with our modern life-style. The food with fats and oils that we are eating today cannot be utilized as we have stopped exerting physically. The unused and extra fat with the help of factors like stress of modern life, smoking habits and so on has no option other than to get slowly deposited inside the body and the heart arteries – causing heart disease.
The good news is that by bringing about small but informed changes in our life-style we cannot only prevent the growth of the heart disease but also reverse it. In other words it is now possible to to remove the fat and cholesterol deposits which obstruct the flow of blood to the heart muscles.
Medical research has now proved beyond any doubt (supplementad with angiographic proofs) that heart desease reversal is possible only with a combination of the knowledge of medical science and yoga, cooking, stress management, medication and use of common sense.

How can Interventional cardiologist’s best utilize IECP ‘Increased External Counterpulsation?’
Is there a way in which Interventional Cardiologists utilize IECP ‘Increase External Counterpulsation’ along with their catheterization procedures? IECP ‘Increased External Counterpulsation’ can be very successfully and wisely be administered in following two ways, to suitable patients. CARDIAC REHABILITATION - As a second line treatment for those patients who have already undergone Angioplasty or CABG, by means of cardiac rehabilitation. NO OPTION PATIENTS - As a first line treatment for those patients who are not suitable for any further revascularization procedures like angioplasty or bypass.
External Counterpulsation (ECP) an effective form of treatment for angina is still finding itself on a back stage and this effective procedure is still to fall into the mainstream of cardiology practice. For long interventional cardiologists have been avoiding this safe, non-invasive treatment like a plague, but changes in approach to this procedure are lately being noticed.

Properly applying ECG electrodes to the patient for successful IECP treatment.
During the ECP therapy patient preparation plays a very important role, preparing the patient by properly securing the cuffs and proper placement of ECG electrodes ensures a good and troble free ECP therapy. In this section we would discuss about the proper placement of ECG electrodes for an effective ECP treatment.
The IECP Increased External CounterPulsation unit SL-100 from TeraMed is far more technologically advanced system than the legacy ECP units available in the market.
The working principle of this machine is on a unique design, which was designed jointly by team of TeraMed engineers and German engineers. The IECP unit uses the principle of velocity rather than volume. In the technology that uses volume normally the working nozzles are big in size to transfer volume of air from one area to another, as a result the patient is constantly in a position which we call as horse riding in which the patient is jumping throughout the treatment which is not recommended for patients above 55 years of age. There is a requirement of constant monitoring of the time parameter in the diastolic phase and the ecp therapist has to keep adjusting the parameters. The auto functions cannot be accurately adjusted as transfer of air from one area to another is a sluggish environment. The machine is bulky with excessive downtime primarily of moving components.
External CounterPulsation – Information
External Counterpulsation (ECP) is a non-invasive circulatory assist therapy somewhat similar to Intra Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) and is administered on an outpatient basis. However in ECP a substantially large volume of blood is returned to the heart as compared to IABP and has to be used in chronic phase.
A panic attack is a sudden feeling of extreme anxiety accompanied by significant physical symptoms such as trembling, sweating and shortness of breath. They are usually accompanied by an overwhelming fear of catastrophe - the person may feel they are dying or suffering a heart attack, or they may fear they are going mad. They can occur in response to specific situations (such as crowded areas) or spontaneously and with no obvious cause.
